Visitors to the Data Protection Theme World at the Cyber Security Summit Command Control from September 20 to 22, 2018, in Munich had the opportunity to listen to keynote speeches by international progressive thinkers, high-caliber best practice panels, exciting podium discussions and in-depth presentations by theorists and practitioners working in data security, data protection, compliance and encryption.

Solution proposals and best practices in data security, compliance, encryption and data protection for companies

Data Protection is one of five key Theme Worlds in which Command Control will be providing tangible solution proposals, new ways of thinking and best practices to CXOs, data protection officers and cyber security specialists.

The Data Protection Theme World will be examining the following questions

  • How can cyber security risks be identified and how can the development of cyber resilience be taken into consideration in further business development and in business strategy today?

  • How can data be classified into the different protection levels with as little effort as possible?

  • Which new solutions and concepts (also based on AI) will guarantee the greatest level of security of our data in networks, the cloud and on premises?

  • Which attackers and attack types form the biggest risks?

  • How can internal attacks and negligence by employees be best countered?

EU GDPR: First assessments and the next practical data protection steps for organizations

The new cyber security format of the Messe München “Command Control” made its first assessments of the new EU GDPR four months after it comes into force and discussed the next practical data protection steps for organizations and companies. Attendees were able to found out how the EU GDPR will impact their business and their international organizational structure.

Presentation and discussion surrounding data protection

The Data Protection Theme World at Command Control reflected in some of the presentations and discussions of the excellent summit agenda of including:

  • Michael George, Director of the Cyber Alliance in the Bavarian Office for the Protection of the Constitution will be discussing “Current trends in Cyber espionage”.
  • In the panel on Friday on “What’s the status of GDPR and NIS?” with Steve Purser (ENISA) and Alexander Duisberg (Bird&Bird)
  • The lawyer and information security specialist Ilias Chantzos will show in his session “Managing the requirements of breach notifications and cyber security under GDPR” what actions to take in an emergency and how to meet the requirements of GDPR.
  • Christine Runnegar, Senior Director Internet Trust, Internet Society: “Privacy from an international perspective—looking beyond the EU GDPR”

The questions surrounding data protection assumed an important role in the 30 or more other presentations and discussions at Command Control. In the Data Protection Theme World they examined from different perspectives and interpreted for different roles within a company, enabling CEOs, CIOs, CDOS, CROs, CSOs, CISOs HR and marketing managers along with managers of legal departments to acquire comprehensive and role-specific information. Therefore it was well worth a visit.
